The fine print

Per LAC 46:XLVII §3335.C, RNs complete ONE of the following during the 2-year licensure period (licenses expire January 31): 30 board-approved contact hours of CE; 900 practice hours verified by the employer; current national certification in a nursing specialty recognized by the board; or academic credit from a post-secondary nursing program (1 semester hour = 15 contact hours). RNs initially licensed during the previous calendar year are exempt at their first renewal. CE must be approved by a U.S. state board of nursing or ANCC-accredited.
